Butha-Buthe

Also known as Botha-Bothe

Butha-Buthe is a town in northern Lesotho, capital of the district of the same name, below the mountain of Butha-Buthe. In the early 1820s the young chief Moshoeshoe gathered his followers there, before the attacks of the Lifaqane drove him to move in 1824 to the stronger natural fortress of Thaba Bosiu.
