Thaba Bosiu
Thaba Bosiu is a flat-topped sandstone mountain near Maseru in Lesotho, which Moshoeshoe I made his stronghold and capital in 1824. It withstood attacks by rivals and by Orange Free State commandos in the wars of 1865–1868. Moshoeshoe is buried on its summit, and it is a national monument regarded as the birthplace of the Basotho nation.
