Cardona
Cardona is a town in central Catalonia on the Cardener river, famous for its salt mountain, mined since antiquity, and its hilltop castle. The castle, seat of the viscounts and later dukes of Cardona, was one of the strongest in Catalonia and held out until September 1714, among the last places to surrender in the War of the Spanish Succession. Its 11th-century church of Sant Vicenç is a landmark of Catalan Romanesque.
