Cassel (Nord)
Cassel is a small town in the Nord department of northern France, on a hill rising above the Flemish plain. In Roman times it was Castellum Menapiorum, the capital of the Menapii, and roads radiated from it across the region. Three battles were fought nearby, in 1071, 1328 and 1677.
