Cerball mac Dúnlainge
Cerball mac Dúnlainge was king of Osraige in Ireland from about 842 until his death in 888. By fighting and allying with Viking leaders, and by exploiting rivalries between the kings of Munster and the Uí Néill, he made his small kingdom a major power. Icelandic sagas remember him as Kjarval, an ancestor of many Icelandic settler families.
