Cottica River
The Cottica is a river in eastern Suriname and a tributary of the Commewijne. In the eighteenth century its banks were lined with plantations, and the swamps and forests nearby sheltered maroon communities, including those of Boni. The bauxite town of Moengo, developed by Alcoa's subsidiary from the 1910s, stands on its upper course.
