Damavand
Damavand is a town and district in the central Alborz mountains of northern Iran, east of Tehran, at the foot of Mount Damavand. In the early Islamic period it was ruled by the Masmughans, local lords of Iranian descent, until the Abbasid conquest of Tabaristan in 759–760. It lay on the route between the Iranian plateau and the Caspian lowlands.
