Demaratus of Corinth
Demaratus of Corinth was, according to Roman tradition, a nobleman of the Bacchiad family who fled Corinth in the 7th century BCE and settled at the Etruscan city of Tarquinii. There he married a local woman, and his son Lucumo moved to Rome and became its fifth king, Tarquinius Priscus. Ancient writers credited him with bringing Greek craftsmen and letters to Etruria.
