Demak Sultanate
The Demak Sultanate was the first major Muslim state on Java, based on the island's north coast. Its rise in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries contributed to the final collapse of the Hindu-Buddhist Majapahit Empire and to the spread of Islam across Java.
