Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm

Also known as Wörlitz Park

The Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm is a group of landscape parks laid out in the late 18th century around Dessau by Prince Leopold III Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau and his architect Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff. Inspired by English gardens, it combined parks, palaces and farmland in an Enlightenment ideal of beauty and usefulness. Wörlitz Park, begun in 1769, is its centrepiece. It became a World Heritage Site in 2000.
