Diamantina
Diamantina is a colonial town in Minas Gerais, Brazil, formerly the Arraial do Tijuco. Diamonds were found there in the 1720s, and the Portuguese crown made the area a closed Diamond District under a royal monopoly. Its well-preserved colonial centre is a World Heritage Site; President Juscelino Kubitschek was born there.
