Dukhan
Dukhan is a town on the west coast of Qatar and the centre of the country's main onshore oil field. Oil was found there in 1939, and after delays caused by the Second World War exports began in 1949, giving Qatar the revenues that funded its modern development. The field is still worked by the state oil company.
