Ekasarana Dharma
Ekasarana Dharma is the Vaishnavite religious movement founded in Assam by Srimanta Sankardev in the late fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. It teaches devotion to Krishna as the one God, expressed through congregational prayer, recitation and song rather than sacrifice, and is organised through monasteries called satras and village prayer halls called namghars. It shaped Assamese literature, drama and music and drew many lower-caste and tribal followers.
