Falange Española de las JONS

1934–1937 · 20th century · Also known as FE de las JONS, Falange Española de las Juntas de Ofensiva Nacional Sindicalista, Falange

Falange Española de las JONS was a national syndicalist political party founded in Spain in 1934 by the merger of the Falange Española with the Juntas de Ofensiva Nacional-Sindicalista of Onésimo Redondo and Ramiro Ledesma. Led from October 1934 by José Antonio Primo de Rivera as Jefe Nacional, it set out its programme in the Twenty-Seven Points, and in street violence with the Socialists it formed its own death squads. It won only 0.11% of the votes in the 1936 election. Primo de Rivera was executed in a Republican prison on 20 November 1936, and on 19 April 1937 Francisco Franco merged the party with the Carlists into the FET y de las JONS, the sole legal party of his regime.
