Fengjing
Fengjing, or Feng, was a capital of the Western Zhou dynasty on the west bank of the Feng River, south-west of present-day Xi'an. It was founded by King Wen of Zhou shortly before the conquest of the Shang. His son King Wu built Haojing on the opposite bank, and the twin cities served together as the royal centre until the fall of the Western Zhou in 771 BCE. Excavations have uncovered palaces, workshops and chariot burials.
