Francis, Duke of Teck

1837–1900 · 19th century

Francis, Duke of Teck, was the son of Duke Alexander of Württemberg and a Hungarian countess; because of this unequal marriage he was excluded from the Württemberg succession. He was created Prince of Teck in 1863 and Duke of Teck in 1871. In 1866 he married Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge and settled in England, and their daughter Mary became Queen consort of George V.
