Galician-Portuguese

Also known as Old Galician

Galician-Portuguese was the Romance language of medieval Galicia and northern Portugal, from which modern Galician and Portuguese developed. From the late 12th to the mid-14th century it was the main language of lyric poetry across the Iberian kingdoms, used by troubadours and by Alfonso X in the Cantigas de Santa Maria.
