Goiânia
Goiânia is the capital of the Brazilian state of Goiás, a planned city founded in 1933 under the governor Pedro Ludovico Teixeira to replace the old colonial capital of Goiás Velho. It became the capital in 1937 and is known for its Art Deco buildings. In 1987 it suffered one of the world's worst radiological accidents, caused by an abandoned radiotherapy source.
