Grobogan Regency
Grobogan is a regency in Central Java, Indonesia, east of Semarang, with its seat at Purwodadi. Under the Dutch Cultivation System it was struck by a severe famine in 1849–1850, when crop failures combined with the burdens of forced cultivation killed many thousands of people. With the earlier famine in Cirebon, the disaster gave critics of the colonial system evidence of its human cost.
