Person
Hagnon
Hagnon was an Athenian general and politician who founded the colony of Amphipolis on the Strymon river in 437 BCE. He later served as a general in the Peloponnesian War, and in 413 BCE he was one of the probouloi, the board of commissioners appointed after the Sicilian disaster. He was the father of Theramenes. After Brasidas took Amphipolis, its people transferred their founder's honours from Hagnon to him.
