Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein

Hans-Adam II has been reigning Prince of Liechtenstein since 1989. Trained in business, he restructured the princely family's finances and art collections before his accession. A referendum in 2003 approved his constitutional reforms, which strengthened the prince's powers of veto and of dismissing the government. Since 2004 his son Alois has exercised the day-to-day duties of head of state as regent.
