Harput
Harput is a historic hill town in eastern Turkey, just north of the city of Elazığ. Its castle commanded the plain of the upper Euphrates and was held from the early 12th century by an Artuqid branch, whose ruler Belek imprisoned King Baldwin II of Jerusalem there in 1123. Its population gradually moved down to the new town of Elazığ in the 19th century.
