Hasan Pasha (son of Hayreddin)
Hasan Pasha was a son of Hayreddin Barbarossa who served three terms as Ottoman beylerbey of Algiers between 1544 and 1567. He extended Algerian control westwards against the Saadians of Morocco and the Spanish, but failed to take the Spanish strongholds of Oran and Mers el-Kébir in 1563, and joined the Ottoman siege of Malta in 1565. He later commanded at sea and died in Istanbul.
