Heqin
Heqin, meaning 'harmonious kinship', was a Chinese policy of making peace with steppe powers through marriage alliances and regular gifts of silk, grain and other goods. The Han Dynasty adopted it towards the Xiongnu after early military setbacks. It shaped relations between the two states in the early history and governance of the Xiongnu Empire.
