Hernán Siles Zuazo

1914–1996 · 20th century

Hernán Siles Zuazo was a Bolivian politician, a founder of the Revolutionary Nationalist Movement (MNR) and a leader of the revolution of 1952. He was president from 1956 to 1960, when he imposed a stabilisation plan, and again from 1982 to 1985, when he restored democracy after years of military rule. His second government was overwhelmed by hyperinflation, and he called early elections.
