Hikone
Hikone is a city in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, on the eastern shore of Lake Biwa. It grew around Hikone Castle, built by the Ii clan between 1603 and 1622, whose original keep is one of five in Japan designated National Treasures. As the castle town of the Ii, leading vassals of the Tokugawa shoguns, it was the seat of the Hikone domain until 1871.
