Huacas de Moche

c. 100–800 CE · 2nd century · Also known as Huacas del Sol y de la Luna

Huacas de Moche is the archaeological site of the capital of the Moche culture, in the Moche valley just south of Trujillo on the north coast of Peru. Between the great platform of the Huaca del Sol and the painted temple of the Huaca de la Luna lay an urban zone of houses, workshops and streets. The site flourished from about 100 to 800 CE and is one of the main monuments of pre-Inca Peru.
