Huis ter Beurze
Huis ter Beurze is a medieval house in Bruges that belonged to the Van der Beurse family of innkeepers and brokers. Italian and other foreign merchants met on the square in front of it to trade bills of exchange and goods, and their gatherings gave the family's name to the 'bourse', the word for a stock or commodity exchange in many European languages.
