Islamization
Islamisation, also spelled Islamization, is the process by which societies adopt Islam and Islamic institutions. In the Indonesian archipelago it spread through trade and the conversion of coastal rulers from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The rise of Muslim port states contributed to the decline of the Hindu-Buddhist Majapahit Empire.
