394–491 · 5th century · Also known as King Jangsu

Jangsu was king of Goguryeo from 413 to 491, one of the longest reigns in Korean history. The son of Gwanggaeto the Great, he moved the capital from Gungnae to Pyongyang in 427 and kept careful relations with the rival Chinese dynasties of the north and south. In 475 he captured the Baekje capital Hanseong, extending Goguryeo's frontier into the Han river basin.
