Kaliman Asen I
Kaliman Asen I was tsar of Bulgaria from 1241 to 1246, succeeding his father Ivan Asen II as a boy of about seven. His regents paid tribute to the Mongols after their raids of 1242 and could not stop losses to the Empire of Nicaea. He died young in 1246, possibly poisoned.
