Kalinago
The Kalinago, also known as the Island Caribs, are an Indigenous people of the Lesser Antilles, who lived on islands such as Dominica, Saint Vincent, Guadeloupe and Martinique when Europeans arrived. They were skilled seafarers who fought fiercely against Spanish, French and English colonists. Wars, disease and displacement greatly reduced them, and their main surviving community lives in the Kalinago Territory on Dominica.
