K'an II

588–658 · 7th century · Also known as Lord Storm Water Moon

K'an II was king of the Maya city of Caracol in Belize from 618 to 658. Allied with the Kaan dynasty of Calakmul, he waged war against Naranjo and defeated it in 631. His victories are recorded on monuments, including a hieroglyphic stairway later found at Naranjo, and Caracol reached its greatest size during his reign.
