K'an Joy Chitam II

644–c. 721 · 7th century

K'an Joy Chitam II was king of the Maya city of Palenque from 702, a son of K'inich Janaab' Pakal. In 711 he was captured by the rival city of Toniná, which depicted him bound as a prisoner on a relief. He seems to have survived and returned, but Palenque declined through the eighth century.
