Kazakh–Dzungar wars
The Kazakh–Dzungar wars were a series of conflicts from the 1640s to the 1750s between the Kazakh Khanate and the Dzungar Khanate for the steppes of Central Asia. The Dzungar invasion of 1723, remembered by Kazakhs as the 'Years of Great Disaster', drove many Kazakhs from their lands; the wars ended when the Qing destroyed the Dzungar state in the 1750s.
