Kerbogha was a Turkish commander who served the Seljuks as atabeg of Mosul. In 1098 he led a large Muslim army to relieve Antioch from the First Crusade, but the crusaders, who had just taken the city, defeated him outside its walls in June 1098. He kept Mosul until his death in 1102.
