King Huai of Chu
King Huai of Chu ruled the state of Chu from 328 to 299 BCE. Misled by the Qin diplomat Zhang Yi, he broke his alliance with Qi and suffered heavy defeats by Qin. In 299 BCE he was lured to a meeting in Qin and held captive until his death in 296 BCE, an outrage long remembered in Chu and associated with the poet Qu Yuan.
