r. 488–432 BCE · 5th century BCE

King Hui of Chu (reigned 488–432 BCE) was a ruler of the State of Chu who restored its power after the Wu invasion of 506 BCE. He survived a revolt by his kinsman Bai Gong Sheng in 479 BCE and in the same year annexed the State of Chen, later also absorbing Cai. A bell he gave to Marquis Yi of Zeng was found in the marquis's tomb, buried around 433 BCE.
