Krishnaraja Wodeyar II

1728–1766 · 18th century

Krishnaraja Wodeyar II (1728–1766) was king of Mysore from 1734 to 1766. Throughout his reign real power lay with ministers: first the dalavayi Devaraja and his brother Nanjaraja of the Kalale family, and from 1761 the soldier Hyder Ali, who took control of the government. The king remained a figurehead while Mysore was turned into a major military power in his name.
