Lalbagh Botanical Garden

1760 · 18th century · Also known as Lal Bagh

Lalbagh Botanical Garden is a historic garden in Bengaluru (Bangalore), India. It was begun by Hyder Ali around 1760 on the Mughal garden model and enlarged by his son Tipu Sultan, who brought in plants from many lands. Under British rule it became a government botanical garden, and its Victorian glasshouse, built in the late nineteenth century, hosts the city's flower shows.
