Latgalians
The Latgalians were a Baltic tribe of eastern Latvia, settled along the Daugava and in the uplands to the east by the late first millennium. Their lands included the principalities of Jersika, Koknese and Talava, and some had become Orthodox Christians under Rus' influence. Conquered by the German crusaders in the 13th century, they merged with neighbouring Baltic peoples into the Latvians.
