Legio IX Hispana
Legio IX Hispana was a Roman legion that took part in the invasion of Britain in 43 CE. It was badly defeated by Boudica's rebels in 60 or 61 and later built the legionary fortress at York. It is last recorded in Britain in 108, and its later fate is unknown; it may have been transferred to the East and destroyed there in the second century.
