Lithuanian Activist Front

1940–1941 · 20th century

The Lithuanian Activist Front was an anti-Soviet resistance organisation founded in Berlin in November 1940 by Kazys Škirpa. It organised the June Uprising of 1941 when Germany invaded the Soviet Union and formed the Provisional Government of Lithuania, which the Germans dissolved in August. Its leaflets spread antisemitic propaganda, and some of its members took part in killings of Jews; the Germans banned it in September 1941.
