Madan Gopal
Madan Gopal was the founder of Sonepur State in western Odisha. A younger son of the Chauhan ruling house of Patna (Patnagarh), he received in 1556 the territory around the confluence of the Mahanadi and Tel rivers, and his descendants ruled Sonepur as a separate Chauhan line until the princely state merged with India in 1948.
