Mahendravarman (Chenla)
Mahendravarman, born Chitrasena, was a king of Chenla in present-day Cambodia around the end of the 6th and start of the 7th century. Together with his relative Bhavavarman I he conquered much of Funan, and he left Sanskrit inscriptions across north-east Cambodia, southern Laos and north-east Thailand. He was succeeded by his son Ishanavarman I, who completed the takeover of Funan and built the capital Ishanapura.
