Laos
Laos is a landlocked country in mainland South-East Asia along the middle Mekong. In earlier centuries, parts of its territory fell within the sphere of the Khmer Empire. Accounts of the Khmer note that Khmer influence extended over neighbouring polities in present-day Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, contributing to the formation of later states in the region.
