Menumorut

fl. c. 900 · 10th century

Menumorut is a ruler described in the Gesta Hungarorum, written around 1200, as the duke of a land between the Tisza, the Someș and the Igfon forest, with its fortress at Bihar. According to the Gesta he resisted Árpád's Hungarians, but after the siege of Bihar he gave his daughter in marriage to Árpád's son Zoltán, who inherited his lands. Because no other source mentions him, historians dispute whether he existed.
