Mindoro

Mindoro is the seventh-largest island of the Philippines, lying south-west of Luzon across the Verde Island Passage. Many scholars identify it with Ma-i, a trading country that Chinese records describe from the 10th century, and its coasts traded with Chinese merchants long before Spanish rule. Its mountainous interior is home to the Mangyan peoples.
