Laguna de Bay
Laguna de Bay is the largest lake in the Philippines, lying south-east of Manila on Luzon and draining into Manila Bay through the Pasig River. Before Spanish rule its shores were settled by Tagalog communities that farmed rice, fished and traded with Chinese merchants. Some scholars place the early trading polity of Ma-i at Bay on its southern shore.
