Morro do Castelo

Morro do Castelo was a hill in central Rio de Janeiro to which the young city was moved in 1567 under Governor Mem de Sá, after the French were driven out. It held the first fort, cathedral and Jesuit college of the city. The hill was levelled in 1920–1922 to make room for modern development.
